I had the pleasure of being in the water many times with Gerry giving a show. I can only say that he emanates a core, still energy, of perfect synchronization with the wave. You know when you go see a rock star and can FEEL the star presence just oozing of of them from the stage? That is Gerry. Pure Soul Surfer. I remember one time at Hanomanu he was taking off on the lefts and slipping down the face sideways instead of a standard drop-in and turn, just a graceful slide sideways…That got me thinking to try it and I pulled it off. He was the man to watch…and I was a surfer chick. The man is nothing but pure style in motion. I had a wonderful board shaped by him,. old style diamond tail, and it was magic. To have one of his boards made you surf better, and understand that his eye and talent just won’t be surpassed.
