Joni Sternbach: Tintype Book

Surf Site Tin Type is an homage to a sport, a way of life and to the people who practice it.  Over the last decade, Joni Sternbach has created portraits in tintype of contemporary surfers that put the world of surfing in a completely new light.  Stunning in their detail, these unique images evoke the romance of surfing and the strong individualism of the men and women who live to ride the waves.  Working with a large format camera and using hand-poured tintype plates, Sternbach has profiled a fascinating range of people on beaches around the world, from Malibu to Montauk to Byron Bay, Australia. Ramsey Dau: My Wave

"That’s what it feels like sometimes surfing in Southern California. It’s pretty rare to catch a good day with only a few people out. In fact, it can be tough to catch a bad day with only a few people out." Ramsey Dau is a Los Angeles-based artist and designer. He describes his creative process as “editing ” – taking the things that resonate with him, both positively and negatively, storing them in his brain, on post-its, and in notebooks, until they one day join together and come out on canvas or paper.  Ramsey's poster is available for purchase here.

CJ Nelson: 11' Josh Hall Eagle

"Josh made a 11' eagle for my recent trip to Mexico. I had never rode one before but had heard nothing but good things about this design. I ended up loving the board and rode it every day of our trip. I have never had a board teach me so much about my surfing. I will always have one in my quiver. Thanks Josh, -CJ"
